Nyungwe National Park

Nyungwe National Park – Rwanda’s Enchanted Rainforest Retreat

A scenic three-hour drive southwest from Kigali leads through rolling hills and lush tea plantations, opening into the mist-laden expanse of Nyungwe National Park. Recognized as one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests, Nyungwe covers over 1,000 square kilometers and is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees and the rare L’Hoest’s monkeys, alongside more than 300 bird species. This ancient forest, part of the Albertine Rift, reflects Rwanda’s commitment to conservation while offering exclusive, high-end experiences for discerning travelers.

Exploring the park, visitors are enveloped by the forest’s living tapestry  sunlight filtering through towering trees, the distant chatter of chimpanzees, and flashes of brilliantly colored sunbirds. Hidden waterfalls, crystal-clear streams, and dramatic cliff paths transform every trek into an immersive, story-like adventure. Historically, Nyungwe has been a hub for primate research and conservation, making it both an ecological treasure and a destination with deep natural significance.

Luxury in Nyungwe is subtle and refined. Lodges such as Nyungwe House provide elegantly appointed villas with forest views, gourmet dining, spa treatments, and personalized service. With Camptrek Safaris, travelers enjoy private chimpanzee tracking permits, guided canopy walks, and fully bespoke excursions, ensuring each moment in the rainforest is curated for privacy, comfort, and wonder. Here, adventure and indulgence coexist seamlessly, leaving every guest with memories as vivid as the forest itself
